matlab2tikz software package provides converter of Octave plots to TikZ figures (for integration into LaTeX), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install matlab2tikz
matlab2tikz is installed in your system.
Make ensure the matlab2tikz package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep matlab2tikz *
You will get with matlab2tikz package name, version, architecture and description in a table
